Purpose: To provide fair, balanced and relevant CME designed to enhance the care and service physicians offer their patients while increasing the vitality and efficiency of the settings in which they practice. Content Areas: The goal of AA-PE CME is to integrate content that includes physician attributes and encompasses current research and clinical practice guidelines presented with quantifiable levels of evidence relevant to primary care physicians and specialists. AA-PE has focused education in Alzheimer's disease and dementia, neurological disorders and oncology with emphasis on minority and women's health. Target Audience: Primary care physicians, neurologists, psychiatrists and oncologists. Type of Activities Provided: Scientifically valid and commercially unbiased content on principles of effective adult learning in the following formats: live workshop group activities, live webcasts, Internet based enduring materials, online software based learning and other appropriate formats. AA-PE CME activities are designed to emphasize desirable physician attributes as identified by the Institute of Medicine, the American Board of Medical Specialties and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. AA-PE evaluates the effectiveness of all activities and of its overall CME program. AA-PE may co-sponsor CME activities with other accredited providers to meet the educational needs of learners on a regional and national level. Expected Results: AA-PE CME endeavors to improve physician competence, performance and patient outcomes through integration of evidence / competency based CME content and quality improvement in practice. AA-PE CME emphasizes assessment of results of CME activities through utilization of outcome analyses that incorporate documented application of new knowledge into practice.
