The American Academy of Physician Education (AA-PE) AA-PE’s professional responsibility is to provide physicians with increased access to quality, practice / evidence based CME, recognizing that physicians require continuous learning throughout their careers appropriate to their individual area of practice.
AA-PE’s activities consider the needs and interests of physician attendees, recognizing their individual learning styles, and the overall assessment of the demonstrated, presumed and expressed needs of that specialty or area of practice. Ultimately the design of each program will enhance the physicians’ skills within their area of specialty and practice in order to improve current and future patient care with in their practice and communities.
The mission statement for continuing medical education reflects AA-PE’s commitment to the development and enhancement of quality CME programs to produce an effective CME program that develops activities to encourage change in physician behavior and improve the quality of patient care. AA-PE’s activities and overall CME Program will utilize methods that incorporate adult learning theory to assure effective learning, retention and overall improvement of physician l skills.
AA-PE Goals The goals of AA-PE and the expected results of its CME program are to provide Category 1 educational activities that: o Are consistent with the CME standards of IMQ and ACCME Guidelines o Improve and update physicians clinical skills for the betterment of patient care o Improve the knowledge of subspecialty and specialty areas with the most relevant education topics in a rapidly changing healthcare industry o Promote professionalism and peer to peer learning through focused activities o Demonstrate relevant, measurable outcomes based improvements o Provide multimedia / printed / internet based enduring materials of Category 1 CME lectures.
